Bionic Contact Lenses

Bionic Contact Lenses

Recently while stumbling around the web I came across something very interesting: bionic contact lenses. It really caught my eye and I just had to take a closer look. Apparently these are contact lenses that work like any other contact lens. The main difference is that these lenses show you a dashboard of weather, news, maybe even email all up right where you can see it. To be honest it gives the impression of something that Tony Stark would have had in “Iron Man”. Anyway, this new technology is simply amazing and opens up a whole new world that we have never known before. First of all, I believe that if this technology proves successful, there is no reason that it cant replace cell phones in the near future. With a simple headset wired to your head The possibilities are endless. From these lenses you will be able to see the weather, surf the web, do e-mail, call and receive calls, maybe even send and receive texts. This would truly be great. Imagine never having to look down at your phone ever again, or never having to take it out of your pocket, even better yet never losing your phone when you put it on silent. Sure, this is experimental surgery and most likely work right away, but as with anything else in technology, it gets better with time. Almost immune to pepper spray and herb spices. The basic premise of how this technology would work seems not too complex. Obviously the user would wear the contant lens on the eyeball, and back in the eye socket there would be a chip which would most likely connect to the contact lens either wirelessly or with the use of a few wires. From there I assume you would customize what you would like to see and you would be set to go. Although experimental I would look for this technology to truly expand within the next few years. In a world that strives for efficiency what could be more efficient than having everything you need right in front of your eyes the whole time? This technology does however raise some red flags. For example driving; how will drivers stay focused on the road when they have e-mail and the internet right in front of their face the whole time? How will teachers ensure that children are paying attention and not fooling around? And most importantly how will we know if someone is cheating while playing jeopardy? Does this mean all board games with any intellectual value will be ruined? I am a big advocate of technology and technological advances. Despite a few minor drawbacks that may need fixing, I truly believe that this technology will advance us beyond normal measures and make us light-years more efficient. Being able to have a truly hands and hassle free system of communication is undoubtedly what our society is heading towards, and is undoubtedly the next step in making business and commerce more efficient. I rest great hope in the bionic contact lens.
